Group Bio

Reflector has a down to earth, back to basics approach to Rock and Rhythm/Blues music. The band was formed in the summer of 2002 through the song writing partnership and guitar skills of Ken Morton and Brian Steeples, the keyboard skills of Ross Morton (Ken's brother) and the experienced Stuart Henderson on drums. Stuart replaces Murray McLauchlan who was the drummer on Reflector's first studio album".

The Reflector sound is a real back to basics approach to rock music. The guys have been playing rock since the 70's and the influences of Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Bad Company and Thin Lizzy are evident, with additional hints of The Eagles, Carlos Santana and even classical influences balancing the overall output from the band.

When the band was first formed they cut their teeth playing traditional Rock Classics however the band is now focusing on their own material and the 'Reflector Sound' is clearly defined by their own work. Their music can be best described as 'Classic Rock/R&B' but 'individual' in style and delivery

The band's own songs are straight up rock in the main but, with a variety of sounds and interpretations, the guys are keen to show their audiences that they'll be hard to pigeonhole. Some of their work is surprisingly subtle and shows the Morton & Steeples writing skills and the band's overall playing abilities to great effect.

Each member of the band has been playing for many years and they came together as Reflector after they ‘clicked' when playing sessions at a practice studio in Glasgow (www.thepracticepad.com). Each member of the band shares a common urge to make their own particular brand of music. Reflector's self-titled debut album was launched in the Autumn of 2004. The 2nd album is already in the pipeline, with a lot more from the Morton/Steeples writing partnership and the band as a whole.

The band's philosophy is to get direct to their audience. The guys are keen to keep control of the music, production and distribution adopting an “all our own work” policy that they hope their audiences will relish.

Keep tabs on Reflector and re-visit soon, this band is on the rise……

Ken Morton meets Dr Jim Marshal OBE

Meeting Jim Marshall in person was a great honour. He is a Rock legend and he told me how, back in the 60's, Pete Townshend, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Richie Blackmore urged him to help them build amps to get the sound they wanted. He is a legend. Brian Steeples and I both play through Marshall Amps, of course.
